Every year, millions of Dubai residents pack up and leave for the summer. Flights to Europe, Asia, and the Americas fill up from June through August as families escape the heat. Meanwhile, their villas sit empty for 8-12 weeks. That is exactly enough time for a complete renovation.
The Summer Advantage
Zero disruption to your daily life. The biggest complaint about renovation is living through it — the noise, the dust, the strangers in your home. When you renovate while travelling, you skip all of it. You leave with an old kitchen and come home to a new one.
Contractors have more availability. Summer is traditionally a slower period for new enquiries (everyone is travelling), which means the best contractors have capacity. During peak season (September-November), the top firms are booked 2-3 months out.
Material deliveries are faster. Suppliers and showrooms are less busy in summer. Custom orders from Italy, Spain, and Turkey that normally take 6-8 weeks can arrive in 4-5 weeks during the quieter months.
What You Can Accomplish in 8-12 Weeks
With a well-planned project and a contractor who starts on day one, an 8-12 week summer window is enough for a complete kitchen renovation (6-8 weeks), 2-3 bathrooms (6-8 weeks running parallel to the kitchen), full villa painting (2-3 weeks), new flooring throughout (3-4 weeks), and joinery upgrades (4-6 weeks).
With 12 weeks, you can accomplish a comprehensive villa refresh covering all of the above — and still have a buffer for snagging.
The Timeline for Summer 2026
If you want your renovation completed by the time you return in September, here is the realistic timeline:
March-April: Initial consultation, site visit, design concepts. This is where material selections happen — tiles, marble, fixtures, cabinetry style, colours. Do this before you get busy with end-of-school-year activities.
May: Design finalisation, material orders placed, NOC application submitted. Some materials (especially imported stone and custom joinery) need 4-6 weeks to arrive.
June 1: Mobilisation begins. Demolition, rough works, waterproofing. Your project manager sends daily WhatsApp updates with photos and video.
July: Core works — tiling, joinery installation, glass works. This is the heavy lifting. You can watch your villa transform from anywhere in the world via daily updates.
August: Finishing — painting, fixtures, lighting, hardware. Deep clean. Snagging walkthrough (we can do this via video call if you are still abroad).
September: You walk through the door to a completely transformed home.
How to Get Started
The window for summer 2026 projects is closing. Material ordering lead times mean that projects starting after June 15th risk not completing by September. If you are considering a summer renovation, the time to have the first conversation is now — March at the latest.
